Navigating through a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) course can seem daunting, but the reality is more straightforward than you might expect. Here, we answer your most frequently asked questions about the course, from duration to certifications and everything in between.

How Long Does the RSA Course Take to Complete?

The core elements of the RSA course, including online lessons, multiple-choice quizzes and case studies, generally take individuals around three to four hours to complete. You can expect to add a couple more hours to this estimate if you also need to complete supplementary tasks like an Observer Report or a Virtual Video Assessment.

It's worth noting that learning pace can vary. If you have extensive experience in the food and beverage industry, you may find some of the material familiar, and as a result, you may complete the course more swiftly. If English is not your first language, you might need additional time to understand the lessons thoroughly.

Some students from the Australian Institute of Food Safety (AIFS) have started, completed, and even received their Statement of Attainment on the same day.

When Will I Get My Statement of Attainment?

Our assessors work diligently from Monday to Friday and can often issue your Statement of Attainment within a few hours of you finishing the course.

You will receive an email confirming your competency and another email containing a digital copy of your Statement of Attainment and your NSW Food Safety Supervisor certificate.

Due to our quality assurance measures, please note that this process can take from a few hours to a few days. Once you've been deemed competent, expect to receive your printed graduation pack, containing your Statement of Attainment and any other relevant certificates, between three and seven business days via post.

Do I Need Special Equipment or an Observer for Assessments?

The good news is that our Virtual Video Assessment has simplified the process. All you need is a device with a camera and a microphone—a mobile device, laptop, or desktop computer.

For those who have been serving alcohol in the last year, nominating an Observer to report on your skills is also an option. The Observer will need to complete a form, which will be assessed by our qualified team.

You'll only need to provide basic personal details and payment information to get started. Is There an Onsite Exam?

You can complete the entire course from the comfort of your home or workplace. The flexibility of the RSA course enables you to tailor your learning journey to fit your schedule and location preferences.
